NIH Targeting RNA in Disease with Novel Technologies (TRDNT) Challenge - Phase I

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is launching the Targeting RNA in Disease with Novel Technologies (TRDNT) Challenge, a prize competition, with up to $13.1 million in prizes across three phases, funding researchers and teams working to develop, validate, and disseminate novel precision RNA-targeting technologies for diseases that have long been untreatable.

This is an opportunity to advance RNA-targeting technologies to target diseases caused by RNA dysfunction or difficult-to-drug proteins, furthering the adoption of multiple disease treatment options for patients currently without a clear path forward.

Open to academic RNA researchers, early-stage innovators, research organizations, and biotech startups, among others. Applications close July 15, 2026.
