Dr. Larry Ronan to Serve as Senior Advisor
Larry Ronan, MD, at internist at Massachusetts General Hospital and a long-time friend of CIMIT, has agreed to serve as senior advisor to Executive Director John Parrish, MD.
In this part-time position, Dr. Ronan will provide consultation regarding global health and education initiatives, as well as offering guidance on care of the injured soldier or civilian in a war zone.
Dr. Ronan is among the most active Boston-area physicians in traveling to vulnerable areas to offer medical services. He has been to Iraq to provide care, and he has also offered his services in areas hit by Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Ronan directs the Thomas S. Durant Fellowship in Refugee Medicine, a program named in honor of his late mentor, the MGH doctor who traveled to many hard-hit areas to provide care.
Dr. Ronan's domestic practice includes his activity as a doctor to the Boston Red Sox, and as a personal physician to Sen. Edward Kennedy.
"We are very pleased that Larry will be providing counsel to CIMIT," said Dr. Parrish. "He has extensive experience in many areas of healthcare, both in this country and overseas. He will be a valuable asset to CIMIT."
