P. Wiesmann MD, President & CEO

Prior to founding the
BioSTAR Group, Dr. Wiesmann served as the Director for Combat Casualty Care at
the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command Post, at Ft. Detrick
in Frederick, Maryland. He retired from the Army as a full
colonel in 1997. Throughout his military career, Dr. Wiesmann led the design
and development of novel technologies for improved battlefield survival,
including many devices and techniques that are now the standard of care for the
US Military.
Dr. Wiesmann currently
serves on the Board of Trustees at Harvey
Mudd College
in Claremont, California. He is the Chairman of the
Scientific Advisory Board of the National Tissue Engineering Center (NTEC) and
a member of the University of Southern California (USC) Engineering School
Board of Councilors.
Dr. Wiesmann received his
undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University
of Cincinnati and his medical degree
from Washington University,
St. Louis. Dr.
Wiesmann completed advanced research training as a fellow at the National
Heart, Blood and Lung Institute at the National Institutes of Health and
subsequently served as a senior scientist at the Walter Reed Institute of
Research. He also served as an attending nephrologist at Walter Reed
Hospital. Dr. Wiesmann
has over 50 publications in scientific literature, authored several book
chapters, and currently has a total of 18 patents awarded and pending.
